Ingredients
To marinate prawns
- Prawns - ½ kg
- Red Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Pepper powder – ½ tsp
- Vinegar – 1 tsp
- Salt as needed
For the masala
- Red onions, thinly sliced – 3 medium
- Green chillies – 2
- Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Tomatoes, sliced – 2
- Curry leaves - 4 sprigs
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Salt as needed
Method
- Mix together the ingredients for marinating and marinate the prawns in it for half an hour.
- Heat oil and shallow fry the prawns, but do not wait too long, as it will make the prawns rubbery. Keep it aside.
- Sauté the onions and green chillies in the same oil used for frying prawns till the colour changes.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté again till the fresh smell of the paste goes away.
- Add all the powders and fry well.
- Add tomato and sauté till tomatoes cooked.
- Add the fried prawns and salt,cover and let it simmer for 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle garam masala and add curry leaves.
- Mix and serve with rice or chappathi.
